A luminous period family house by the sea

Edwardian period semi-detached family house by the sea house for sale

Open plan sitting and dining room: a space to live in

The main reception rooms in our house are opened out into one very large open-plan area, but an arch between the two keeps a degree of separation.

We used the back room as a dining room and it was really excellent for entertaining. The front part we used as a sitting room — it’s easily able to accommodate two sofas and three armchairs, so you can seat a whole party here.

Both rooms have period Edwardian features including crystal chandeliers and very high skirting boards. There’s an open fireplace in the sitting room, although it would need some work on the flue before a fire could be lit there.

This space is always really light because of the large bay window in the front and the south-facing patio doors at the back. The windows and the doors are double glazed and the room is cozy in the winter and heats up quickly with the central heating.
